The Coffee Trust is a non-profit organization that works with coffee farmers and their families helping them to overcome poverty and carve out their own future, a future based upon their own priorities, their own values and their own cultures. The Coffee Trust promotes grassroots development in select coffee-producing communities. Deeply committed to the shared learning principles of campesino-a-campesino, The Coffee Trust supports locally controlled projects that focus on education, health care, food sovereignty and economic diversification for coffee farmers.
Bill Fishbein has been an advocate for coffee growers since 1988. He started his career in specialty coffee in 1978, and later established Coffee Exchange in Providence, Rhode Island. Upon recognizing that coffee was hardly as generous to growers as it had been to him, he has since dedicated his life to improving the quality of life for coffee producers and their families.
